Description

Bison graze on Ordway Prairie, owned and managed by the Nature Conservancy. Site has a USFWS grassland easement protecting it in perpetuity. It is situated in the center of a large block of the Prairie Pothole Region protected through perpetual grassland and wetland easements. In addition the USFWS owns and manages thousands of acres in fee title on Waterfowl Produtction Areas in the area.

This part of South Dakota has some of the highest densities of nesting waterfowl along with many other species of grassland and wetland birds.
