English: Outdoor kitchen, a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) product board and a block and tackle at the Blackberry Meadows Farm in Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania, on April 15, 2024. They received a USDA Rural Development Value Added Producer (VAPG) Grant in 2021, and a Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) grant in 2024. Obligated in September 2021, this Rural Development investment was used as working capital to support Urban Homesteaders LLC DBA Blackberry Meadows Farm located in Natrona Heights, Allegheny County, PA. The primary revenue for the farm is earned from cooking and selling hand-made food from its farmed meat and certified organic produce at farmers markets. The funds will be utilized primarily for processing and marketing the pork and mixed vegetable products being sold at the markets. This project is anticipated to increase the agricultural producer's customer base by 75 per week and increase its revenue by approximately $270,000 over a 3-year period. Obligated on May 9, 2024, this Rural Development investment will be used to help Urban Homesteaders LLC, located in Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania, purchase and install a high efficiency, top-mount, self-contained evaporator and condensing walk-in freezer. Founded in 2008, Urban Homesteaders LLC specializes in certified organic pork and produce. This project is expected to save the business approximately $250 per year and will decrease its energy consumption by 27 percent. USDA media by Daniel Blottenberger
