Summary
editDescriptionBlackpool & Fleetwood "Rack" No.2 at the National Tramway Museum, Crich..JPG |
English: "Rack" 2 is the oldest operational tram in the National Tramway Museum's collection. It was built in 1898 by G.F. Milnes & Co, and was mainly used in the busy summer months. The tramway was taken over by Blackpool Corporation in 1920, this resulted in the tram being renumbered 127 and repainted in to red and cream, and by 1932 it was painted in the all-new green and cream livery. It was withdrawn as a service tram in 1938, but continued in service ferrying tramway workers on repair jobs. It was restored in 1959 for the Blackpool Tramway's 75th Anniversary and gifted to the National Tramway Museum, Crich, four years later. In 1964, it became the first electric tram to run at Crich, and is seen here at the NTM's "Electric 50" event on the 13th of September 2014, where it was star of the show. |
