English: Blackpool North Pier Blackpool is the only town in the United Kingdom with three piers; the North Pier was completed in 1863, followed by the Central Pier in 1868 and the South Pier in 1893.
In this view the end-of-pier audience basks in the late season sun while the organist (out of shot) entertains. The graceful ironwork of the Victorian wind-break is in sharp contrast to the stark lines of the edifice in the background - even the litter bin exhibits some attempt at design! |
