Object history
Français : Initialement, ce blason fut celui des premiers comtes de Nevers. Cette famille s'éteignit en 1181, et le blason ne fut plus porté.

Les comtes de Bourgogne, à la fin du XIIe siècle, étaient de la famille de Hohenstaufen et portaient de gueules à l'aigle éployé d'argent. Le comte Othon IV (1248 † 1302), un de ses successeurs, préféra se tourner vers le royaume de France, et abandonna ses armes en 1279 pour reprendre celles des comtes de Nevers.
Quelques siècles plus tard, le comté de Bourgogne devint la Franche-Comté (sources).

La plupart des représentations montrent un lion couronné, ce qui est reproduit ici, mais la couronne est parfois omise ou placée en ornement extérieur.
