The Jacques Gabriel bridge (Construction from 1716 to 1724). The Jacques Gabriel bridge (the name of the architect) was the first public work of the reign of Louis XV. This is the last bridge saddle built on the Loire. A pyramid of 14.60 m high was placed at the highest point of the bridge. This bridge is the first conducted by the Corps of Bridges and Roads. Gabriel bridge was damaged during the wars: The December 10, 1870 an arch is destroyed to slow the advance of German troops. June 18, 1940, two arches are destroyed to slow the advance of German troops. August 16, 1944, three middle arches are destroyed by retreating German troops.
