| Description |
English: Boardwalk through dunes Normally boardwalks are used to negotiate wet places but this one is to protect the fragile dune vegetation. Removing the vegetation is particularly bad in dunes as the exposed sand can be blown away, massively increasing the damage. These dunes are well inland of the beach and are therefore old. The vegetation is diversifying from the few colonising species such as marram grass that create the dune initially. |
