Summary

edit
Description Ever wonder what our scientists do when they trap an animal? We met Bobcat 338, or B-338, in the Liberty Canyon area in January 2016. Biologist Joanne Moriarty uses a blow dart for sedation and then goes to work, checking health stats, taking DNA samples, and fitting a GPS collar. The whole process took about 45 minutes and he was released in the same spot where he was captured. From there, it's all about understanding how he survives in the fragmented habitat of the Santa Monica Mountains.
