Summary

edit
Description BOCHUM - traveling eastbound from Essen, we pass a westbound suburban train made up of the distinctive ET 30 (later 430 - 830) design. The DB 30's -- introduced in 1956 -- were designed for the Ruhr region, with urban transit rapid boarding and alighting. In 1965 the Deutsche Reichsbahn introduced a similar looking train-set for Leipzig suburban service (ET 25), but with technical compromises that may explain their limited production. (Thanks to H. O. for noticing photo details.)
