Satire on the Peninsular war. (British political cartoon); A satire on the Convention of Cintra, 30 Aug. 1808. A composition in two parts. 1. The Tower Guns. Surprise the first. Mr and Mrs Bull are at the supper table. A servant informs them of the firing of the guns at the Tower of London, signifying the victory of Vimiero. 2. The Gazette. Surpise the second. John Bull joins other citizens reading the terms of the Convention of Cintra, by which the French army was allowed to retreat with its munitions.; Attribution from BMC |
