English:

The Boeing Airplane Company got its first big military order when its "C" model seaplane was accepted as a trainer by the U.S. Navy during World War I. The company opened a new plant on the west side of the Duwamish River, south of Seattle, to handle all this new business. This photo, taken in April 1918, shows the new factory, Plant 1 of the Boeing Airplane Company.

Caption on image: 4-16-1918. Typed on sleeve: Boeing Plant, April 6 [sic], 1918. Located the west side of the Duwamish River, opposite Patterson-McDonald Shipbuilding Company, whose address was 5917 E. Marginal Way (1919 City Directory). Michigan St. Bridge ") in center. Address of Seattle Machine Works, Plant 2, is East Marginal Way near Myrtle St. Original no. 54. Caption by MOHAI staff.
