English: Close-up detail of the side of a Native American teepee at Bohemian Grove, Muir Woods, Monte Rio, California, in 1918. Note the hand drawn depiction of a Native American female that appears to be naked, with long braided hair and headband - facing an owl. The owl is the Bohemian Club's preeminent symbology representing Moloch, a demon associated with child sacrifice and Qliphoth.
The Bohemian Club Owl came to become incorporated into a ritualistic ceremony known as the Cremation of Care that is documented to find its origins as early as this year 1918 at the Grove. A fifteen page staple bound booklet entitled CEREMONY OF THE CREMATION OF CARE was produced by the Bohemian Club Grove dated July 27, 1918. Copies today can be found in the inventory of rare book dealers. Essentially the work is the printed script for the celebrated Ceremony of the Cremation of Care that has become an annual event produced by the Bohemian Club of San Francisco. The booklet consists of 15 pages measuring 5 3/4" X 8 1/2." The cover was of a dark brown paper and the play had a World War I theme. In time a 40 foot tall hollow owl statue made of concrete representing "knowledge" became the center point in the ritualistic ceremony that today is witnessed by approximately 2,000 to 2,500 Club attendees yearly. In the photograph presented here, above the opening of the tent the large initials "EP" can be seen, which likely represents the name of the Bohemian Grove attendee camp name, or possibly even the attendee member's actual name. Image depicts a detailed section of one of two image panels comprising an original silver bromide stereoview photograph. |
