Summary edit
DescriptionBollard on the boundary - geograph.org.uk - 603890.jpg |
English: Bollard on the boundary The bollard happens to be on the county boundary between Hertfordshire (closer to camera) and Buckinghamshire (further away). More critically it marks the location of a manhole. Underneath the dry bed of the canal (the Wendover Arm feeder to the Grand Union canal) is a pipe. When it was discovered that the canal leaked badly a pipe was placed in the bed, and this is one of the inspection manholes. The pipe will remain in place as the canal is restored and rewatered but the manhole will not be needed. |
