English: How a dayligt attack is carried out For the first time a pictorial record has been made of a daylight attack by Stirlings of RAF Bomber Command on a target in enemy occupied France. You see the Stirlings rendezvous over the english coast with a fighter escort of Hurricanes – the start of the operation. They are seen reaching the coast of France, evading enemy "flak" there and flying steadily on to the target where still heavier "flak" is met. Despite intensive fire they press home the attack and the bombs burst on the target. Finally you see them at the moment when – with their fighter escort still covering them – they catch a glimpse of the white cliffs of England through the clouds. |
