Description |
English: On verso of image: Bon Marche at First and Cedar
The Bon Marché was founded in 1890 and moved downtown in 1896 [1]. The pictured building was built in 1892 by Dr. John W. Waughop (1839-1903), then the superintendent of the Insane Asylum at Steilacoom. The building later had 2 floors of apartments added and was demolished prior to 1988, when the current Cedars at Belltown was built on the site. So the time range of this photo is 1892-96. |
