Description
English: So-called “Borghese Vase”. Pentelic marble, Attic work, ca. 40–30 BC. The foot is a moderne restauration; the lost handles were carved into sileni masks. Found in 1569 in the Horti Sallustiani, Rome.
Français : Vase Borghèse. Marbre du Pentélique, œuvre attique, vers 40-30 av. J.-C. Le pied est une restauration moderne ; les anses perdues ont été retaillées en mascarons en têtes de silènes. Découvert en 1569 dans les Jardins de Salluste à Rome.
