Summary

Description
English: Bostal Road Minor road linking Sompting to Steyning. Bostal is a Sussex word used to describe a track leading the northern escarpment of the South Downs. This particular road owes its existence to World War Two, prior to that the lane was surfaced as far as Beggars Bush but the need to be able to get equipment up to the training camps on the downs meant the track from Beggars Bush to Newham Lane was surfaced too.
