| Description |
English: Boudinaged Dyke When different types of rock undergo deformation together, some types stretch and bend more readily than others. The ones that don't stretch or bend so easily tend to break into what are called boudins, from the French word for a string of sausages. Here, a dark dyke has broken up into boudins, while the paler gneiss in the foreground and above has stretched round the boudins. The white rock is quartz which has cut across the gap at a later date. |
