DescriptionBoundary stone near Eylesbarrow - geograph.org.uk - 1513792.jpg |
English: Boundary stone near Eylesbarrow. One of a series indicating the bounds of land surrounding Burrator Reservoir. "The watershed for the Reservoir was stated in the 1930s to be 5,360 acres. In order to preserve the purity of the water discharging into the Reservoir, the Corporation bought the whole of the watershed in 1916. The last portion of land was freely donated to the Town by Mr John Bayly. Boundary posts marked "PCWW 1917" can be found on the moorland surrounding that area." http://www.plymouthdata.info/BurratorReservoir.htm (But the reservoir had been completed in 1898). The Another of the stones is next to 766053 close by. A fragment of the reservoir can be seen amid the plantation beside Sheeps Tor on the extreme right. |
