English: Bournemouth: sandstorm on the prom Today's extraordinary winds caused large amounts of sand to be blown eastwards along the prom this afternoon, as many flood and severe weather warnings were in place across the southwest of England and south Wales. There were many regional reports of fallen trees causing road and rail delays.
Here, the main problem when walking along the beach towards the centre of Bournemouth was how to shield the eyes from the sand being blown squarely and at high speed into one's face. Luckily, I had parked on the clifftop and, reaching the foot of 602428 (which we see on the right edge of the picture), I had the choice whether to go west or east before returning on the higher ground. |
