| Description |
English: Box Girder Stephenson's original execution of the railway bridge was as a pair of rivetted iron box-girders which carried up and down trains. Following the disastrous fire when the girders were destroyed, the bridge was reconstructed with a new metal arch to support the road and rail decks. A section of the old box-girder is preserved by the footpath which runs down to the shore here. |
