English: Copy of the resolution, taken of the Electoral-Brandenburgian Commandant of Groß-Friedrichsburg, Carl Constantin von Schnitter, of the Fiscal (Electoral taxe officer) Daniel Gerhard Reijnermann and the upper-merchant (Electoral First merchant) Johan Nieman on the 5th of February, 1685.

It is known that the chiefs of Taccarary, together with their negroes have continued request us of the erection of a little fortresse at them - they would want set themselves therefor under His Electoral Serenity’s devotion and want not have the Dutch – origin: because always the Dutch, when a war came, would have disseised them their goods and would leaved this poor negroes, and which thereupon would have not more a protector, but would must escape also and would let devastate – but a such would not do the Elector of Brandenburg’s people, rather they would well defend both their negroes and their fortresse and would not flee how the Dutch.. Although any time ago) it was denied to the chiefs of Taccarary to erect a fortresse at them, because now there is still stand a Dutch merchant and is wafting a Dutch flag – but one has promised to give protection to them at frequent request when ever would come a war and the Dutch would they abandon. Thereupon the chiefs have “eaten Fetise”, that is a strong oath, and have sworn, to accept no other’s protection as those of His Elecoral Serenity’ of Brandenburg’s – for that they also would want take care for the settling of traders for our great contentment. – Thereupon it was occured that in January 1685 was arosen a pretty war between the landscapes of Adom and Anta, in which (later) Taccarary is located, and the Dutch have take away from their merchant all goods, flag etc., and then abandoned the negroe’s dreadfully, although they (the Dutch) had a good monthy trade there, how it is good known to us, in this sense that the Dutch merchant in one month has become 14 pound of gold, at least 9 pound of gold.

Because now the chiefs have seen themseves as abandoned anew by the Dutch, they have resorted to us and craved us to erect a little fortresse at them. Until to here we have errected already the fortresse Groß-Friedrichsburg on the mount Manfro near the Cape Three Points and also a little fortesse at Accada.

But, because we was sent in this country for no other reason as for search of the benefit and best for His Electoral Serenity and of the Electoral Brandenburgian African Compagnie with all our capacity – which can not occur by an other manner as that one takes care a good trade and receive much gold – after careful consideration have we confered and decided unanimously, because the Dutch have abandoned this location because of war, this to capture this located under establishment of a military post, because this location would be very favourable for our futural trade. - because there are very many villages and poeple in those environment, which could bring a great benefit for our merchants.

Thus we have on the 5th of February anno 1685 posted to Taccarary a petty officer (Ensign, Fähnrich), a sergeant and 6 common soldiers, witi three iron 3-pounds-canons, 50 granats and munition necessary to their defending in order to raise the flag of His Electoral Serenity and His Brandenburgian African Compagnie and to let blowing there – and also odered to let erect immediately a little redoubt surrounded with palisades by the negros and soldiers

The Fiscal Daniel Gerhard Reijnermann together with the Ensign du Mont are deputed to achieve this well.

This, above-noted, is resolved by us after careful and well-considered consultancy and prompted by us. Decided by council on the fortresse Groß-Friedrichsburg, the 5th of February 1685.
