Summary edit

Description
English: Long shot of fossil sea cliff at Steigerberg hill (view from southeast): Permian volcanic rocks (Kreuznach Rhyolite) with Rupelian (Lower Oligocene, 30 mya) coastal erosion features capped by sands of the Rupelian Alzey Formation (background of image). The image mainly shows a wave-cut platform that developed on top of an older stage of the coastal cliff (left center of image) after a sea level rise. Mainz Basin, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany[1]
