English: "Breviarium romanum..Pii V Pont. Max. Rome: Paolo Manuzio, 1568". The first edition of the roman breviary, the first uniformed text for the liturgy of the Hours. During the Council of Trent (1545-1563) it was decided to set a common text for the catholic church against the new protestant churches. The task was assigned directly to a vatican commision directed by pope Pio V that published this edition.
Italiano: "Breviarium romanum..Pii V Pont. Max. Roma: Paolo Manuzio, 1568". La prima edizione del breviario romano, il testo che riorganizzò e uniformò la liturgia delle ore. Alla base del culto divino, essa si piegò nel corso dei secoli alle esigenze delle chiese e degli ordini locali arrivando a mostrare numerose e sostanziali differenze. Nell'esigenza di rafforzare l'unità della Chiesa a seguito delle riforme protestanti, si decise, durante il Concilio di Trento (1545-1563), di redigere una versione unitaria lasciando l'importante compito alla Sede Apostolica e a Pio V. |
