Summary edit

Description
English: Bridge No 41, south of Barton-under-Needwood, Staffordshire. There is nothing left of the canal's original (1777) bridge here. Originally Dogshead Lane crossed the canal from the left to continue towards Catholme Lane. Since the A38, which runs alongside the canal was made dual carriageway, a second bridge (40A) has been constructed to enable right turns from the A38 in both directions without crossing oncoming traffic. This Bridge 41 now shows the date 1991. The A38 here follows the course of the Roman Ryknild Street (Icknield Street).
