Description
English: The renowned Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) based this painting on a woodcut by the Japanese artist Utagawa Hiroshinge. A major difference with the original is that Van Gogh used much brighter colors than the Japanese artist. The edges of the painting are covered with Japanese characters, copied by Van Gogh from other pictures.
