Summary

Description
English: A "floating harbour" seems an odd concept until it's realised that it's really a "harbour for floating on". In fact you can float on it any time you like. This is in contrast with the River Avon which it circumnavigates. When the tide is low the river is reduced to a mere trickle. At one time Bristol Bridge had houses built on it.
