Summary
editDescriptionBritish Museum, King's Library - geograph.org.uk - 1156714.jpg |
English: British Museum, King's Library This large room on the eastern side of the British Museum was built between 1823 and 1827 to house the King's Library which was given to the nation in 1823 by King George IV. In 1998 the books were transferred to their new home in the new British Library building at St Pancras, leaving this room devoid of its original use, now it is used as exhibition space and known as the Enlightenment Gallery or Room 1.
