Summary
editDescriptionBroddur from Sunnbiar Itrottarfelag 2012.jpg |
English: Broddur is a wooden rowing boat from the village Sumba (also written Sunnba) in Suðuroy, Faroe Islands. Broddur is a 5-mannafar, which is the smallest boat type used for rowing competitions. The boat has not competed in the national Faroese competition for several years, but in May 2012 it competed in a local rowing competition in Sumba. The sea is know to be quite rough in Sumba, there is no fjord, but open sea. Some decades ago men from the village competed in the FM competitions in the largest boat type 10-mannafar with ten rowers, and they won some events and even sat a Faroese record. Sumbingur was built in 1957. The boat was called Sunnbingur (also written Sumbingur).
Sunnbingar hava eisini átt eitt 10-mannafar, sum nevndist Sunnbingur ella Sumbingur. Hesin vann við hvørt róðurin hjá 10-mannaførum, og setti eisini eitt føroyskt met. Sumbingur luttók í FM róðri frá 1957 til 1965. |
