Summary edit

Description
English: Brog Street, Corfe Mullen In the background is bridge number BJT 229 LE. From 1893 until 1966 this carried passenger trains of the Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway, bringing holidaymakers on such trains as "The Pines Express" from Manchester and Birmingham to the seaside at Poole and Bournemouth. Goods trains taking fertiliser to a company at Blandford Forum kept the southern end of the line open until 1972. Trains from Blandford had actually started running in 1860 but for the next 33 years they used a line in the woods to the right of the finger-post and had to reverse at Wimborne to reach Poole. The post indicates the start of a section of the North Dorset Trailway which now follows the old line, the notice attached thereto informing the public that the Trailway had been formally opened at 11 a.m. on Saturday 6th October 2007.
