Summary
editDescriptionBroken yellow line road marking on N25 - geograph.org.uk - 1275481.jpg |
English: Broken yellow line road marking on N25 On this section of the N25 north of Orristown Cross Roads the broken yellow line means that the area to the left of it is normally a hard shoulder for use by cyclists and pedestrians. But a driver may pull over into the hard shoulder to allow another vehicle to pass - so long as there is no junction nearby, and no cyclists or pedestrians on the hard shoulder. In the photo the nearest car approaching the camera has pulled over and is mainly on the hard shoulder. As a cyclist I found this hard shoulder very useful. On narrow sections of the road the hard shoulder becomes narrower or disappears completely. There are different rules for motorway hard shoulders. See information from Driving School Ireland http://www.drivingschoolireland.com/regulatory-signs.html . |
