Bronze portrait statue of a Roman man in a toga, perhaps Caius Iulius Pacatianus, military commander and provincial governor active in Dacia, the Alps, Mesopotamia, and Mauretania during the reigns of Septimius Severus and Caracalla.

Notes The body and head are at two different scales: the body, which probably dates to the 2nd century A.D., was reused with the addition of a new portrait head in the early 3rd century A.D. The traditional identification as C. Iulius Pacatianus, based on a bronze inscription found with the statue, is possible, but not certain.
