Summary

edit
Description Brown tree snakes are excellent climbers. They are often found in trees, and on fences and power lines. The snakes cause extensive economic damage to the island’s economy and electrical grid, costing $1-4 million annually in lost productivity due to power outages from electrocuted snakes. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) Wildlife Services (WS) seeks to control snake populations on Guam and prevent its spread throughout the Pacific Rim.
