Summary

Description	Bueil-en-Touraine (Indre-et-Loire) Collégiale Saint-Pierre, Saint-Michel et Saints-Innocents (XIIe, XIVe, XVe, XVIe siècles) Fonts baptismaux de 1521 (cuve de pierre sculptée par Jehan Baron, couvercle de bois sculpté), les rinceaux, volutes, macarons, appartiennent au style de la Renaissance. Aux premiers siècles après Jesus Christ, le baptême se pratiquait par immersion. Le catéchumène descendait dans un bassin, d’environ 1,50m de diamètre, creusé à même le sol: la piscine baptismale. Le terme "fonts baptismaux" est réservé à la cuve de plus petites dimensions posée sur un socle, destinée à contenir ou recevoir l'eau utilisée lors du baptême par infusion. Le rite du baptême par infusion ou aspersion se met en place à partir du XIIe siècle, mais il ne fut réellement pratiqué en France qu'au XVe siècle. Mais l'habitude de dévêtir totalement les jeunes enfants durera et en 1508, une table à "desmailloter et remailloter" est placée près des fonts de Bueil-en-Touraine. L'immersion est encore préconisée et remplacée par trois aspersion uniquement encas de danger pour l'enfant.
