English: The interior of the Buffalo-Exchange Street Amtrak Station, as seen before dawn on a June 2022 morning ahead of the first departing train of the day an Empire Service run to New York City. Inaugurated in 2021 to replace its dreary and increasingly dilapidated predecessor, the "traditional American railroad architecture" referenced by designers Sowinski Sullivan Architects is well exemplified by its glistening terrazzo floor, small but spacious-feeling interior set underneath intersecting barrel vaults, and light fixtures, clocks and other decorative elements that intentionally recall the grandeur of the old Central Terminal. |
