DescriptionBuilding of the naval prison.jpg |
The building is now turned into a commercial center, which has retained the former national name "Bottle". In the process of turning New Holland into a commercial recreation and entertainment center, buildings of historical value were barbarously destroyed. In particular, towing tank, in which the academician A. N. Krylov studied on the models of the seaworthiness of ships, the laboratory of D. I. Mendeleev and the building of the radio station. This fact caused a protest from the world Fund for the protection of monuments. In a statement, the Foundation noted that the continuation of such practices threatens to preserve St. Petersburg's unique position in the list of cities belonging to the cultural heritage of mankind.
