| Description |
The Buildings at 860-880 N. Lake Shore Drive in Chicago (1951). Despite their uninspiring name, these are some of the most important buildings in the history of skyscrapers. They were the first skyscrapers to have (essentially) and all-glass exterior. They are considered a landmark in the history of minimalist architecture. The buildings were two of several built for developer Herbert Greenwald, who had commissioned Mies to build the Promontory Apartments only a few years prior.
