For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Chemnitz, Niles-Werke, Oberlichthalle im Bau Aufn.: Illus Seidel 20.12.1950 Erweiterungsarbeiten in den Niles-Werken Chemnitz. In den volkseigenen Niles-Werken in Chemnitz (Schwerpunktbetriebe für Maschinenbau) gehen neue grosse Werkhallen der Fertigstellung entgegen. Zugleich wird ein grosses Kulturhaus erbaut, in dem die Werktätigen sowohl Unterhaltung wie die Möglichkeit zum Studium finden werden. UBz: Die im Bau befindliche Oberlichthalle, links die neue dreistöckige Werkhalle, im Hintergrund der Schornstein des neuen Kesselhauses.
