For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.  Rostock, UB, "Etui-Atlas der Erde"
ADN-ZB Sindermann 4.1.86 Rostock: Atlanten- Der kleinste Atlas der Welt dürfte wahrscheinlich der "Etui-Atlas der Erde" aus dem Jahre 1831 sein, der sich im Besitz der Rostocker Universitätsbibliothek befindet. Das Büchlein aus der Rostocker Steindruckerei Tiedemann hat ein Format von 67 mal 68 Millimeter und enthält 26 sehr sorgfältig gestaltete, handkolorierte Abbildungen der Länder Europas sowie der Kontinente Afrika, Amerika, Asien und Australien, die jeweils nur quadratzentimetergroß sind. Die Darstellungen erinnern eher an Briefmarken als an Landkarten. 1985 brachte der Hirnstorff-Verlag einen in Leder gebundenen Faksimiledruck der bibliophilen Kostbarkeit heraus.
