Eine große Bedeutung hat das Buch unter den Jugendlichen, da anschauliches Denken und große Emotionalität mit Wesensmerkmalen der Kunst, wie Bildhaftigkeit, Anschaulichkeit und sinnliche Konkretheit, korrespondieren. Ab dem ersten Schuljahr wird und bleibt die Bibliothek ein Kommunikationszentrum in der Freizeit, aus Interesse am bestimmten Thema, für Hausaufgaben, für Unterrichtsergänzung, für Zirkel und Arbeitsgemeinschaften u. v. a..
