Rostock, Marienkirche, Astronomische Uhr ADN-ZB Sindermann 22.10.87 Rostock: Die größte und repräsentativste astronomische Uhr der DDR befindet sich in der Rostocker Marienkirche. Sie ist Anziehungspunkt für jährlich Tausende Gäste aus dem In- und Ausland. Die 515 Jahre alte Uhr mit Apostelumgang und stündlichem Glockenspiel ist von Meister Hans Düringer hergestellt worden. Im 17. Jahrhundert wurde sie durch ein Spielwerk und ein Renaissancegehäuse ergänzt. Nach der 1979 abgeschlossenen Restaurierung ist die Uhr wieder funktionstüchtig. Die zwölf Meter hohe Uhr besitzt fünf Uhrwerke, die unter anderem das stündlich erklingende Schlagwerk und Spielwerk mit seinen 24 Glocken und den Umgang der Apostel steuern. Sonnen- und Mondwanderung, Tierkreise, kirchliche Feiertage, Tages- und Stundenangaben geregelt. An einem riesigen Kalendarium, ausgelegt für die Zeit von 1885 bis 2017, läßt sich ohne Taschenrechner beispielsweise der Wochentag eines weit zurückliegenden Ereignisses exakt nachbestimmen.
