For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Leipzig, "Neues Rathaus" ADN-ZB Gahlbeck 19.2.88-zei - Leipzig: Messestadt - Viele historische Gebäude legen Zeugnis ab von der über 800jährigen Geschichte der Stadt. Darunter auch das 1905 eingeweihte Neue Rathaus mit seiner Prunkfassade (links im Bild). Das 34geschossige Hochhaus der Karl-Marx-Universität dagegen wurde erst 1973 fertiggestellt. Zweimal jährlich treffen sich in Leipzig Aussteller aus aller Welt zur Messe. Rund 9.000 werden es zwischen dem 13. und dem 19. März wieder sein. - siehe auch 1988-0219-8 und 9N
