For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
ADN-ZB Weisflog 25.2.89 Cottbus: Alte Dampflok bringt 80 Tonnen für "Max" - 20 FDJ-Mitglieder des Reichsbahnausbesserungswerkes "Hermann Matern" Cottbus haben mit der Demontage einer auf dem Abstellgleis stehenden 50 Jahre alten Dampflokomotive begonnen. Unter Anleitung erfahrener Kollegen zerlegen die jungen Eisenbahner mit Schweißbrennern 80 Tonnen Lok-Stahl. Radsätze, Wellen und weitere Teile finden nach Regenerierung andere Verwendung. Mit ihren Einsätzen außerhalb der Arbeitszeit wollen sie rund 5.000 Mark für die Eigenfinanzierung des Pfingsttreffens erwirtschaften. Ihre Fahrkarte nach Berlin ist damit schon gesichert.
