Die 11. Tagung der Volkskammer der DDR begann im Plenarsaal des Palastes der Republik. Gespannt verfolgen die Kandidaten für das Amt des Parlamentspräsidenten Dr. Günther Maleuda (1., DBD) und Prof. Dr. Manfred Gerlach (m.,LDPD) die Auszählung der Stichwahl.
