Die 11. Tagung der Volkskammer der DDR begann im Plenarsaal des Palastes der Republik. Nach seiner Wahl zum neuen Volkskammerpräsidenten nahm Dr. Günther Maleuda von der DBD-Fraktion die Gratulation von Egon Krenz, Generalsekretär des ZK der SED und Vorsitzender des Staatsrates der DDR, entgegen.
