For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Lausitzer Tagebau ADN-ZB/Weisflog/27.11.89/Bez. Cottbus: Kohle-Konzept auf Einbahnstraße/Bereits 200 Millionen der jährlich in der Republik geförderten 310 Millionen Tonnen Rohbraunkohle stammen aus dem Lausitzer Revier, 60 Prozent der erkundeten Vorräte lagern hier. Obwohl das Territorium zunehmend unter den unhaltbaren Folgen des als "Einbahnstraße" betriebenen Energiekonzepts leidet, kommt ein Stop der Lausitzer Tagebaue derzeit nicht in Frage. Immerhin liefern sie die schwefelärmste Kohle aller DDR-Reviere. Die leistungsfähigsten Wärmekraftwerke und mit dem Gaskombinat Schwarze Pumpe (im Hintergrund) auch die modernsten Veredelungsanlagen befinden sich in diesem Teil des Landes.
