Auf einer festlichen Veranstaltung am Tag der Deutschen Einheit übernahm Bundesverteidigungsminister Dr. Gerhard Stoltenberg (M) vom früheren DDR-Minister für Abrüstung und Verteidigung, Rainer Eppelmann (l), die Befehlsgewalt über die Streitkräfte des beigetretenen Landesteils.
