For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Berlin, Treptower Hafen, Ausflugsschiffe, Winter Zentralbild Krueger Ho. 31.1.1956 Berlin bei 15 Grad unter dem Gefrierpunkt Grundverschieden nahmen die Berliner die plötzlich einbrechende Kältewelle auf: Die Wintersportler stießen einen Ruf der Freude aus- während einige Säumige, die dachten ohne besondere Vorkehrungen üben den bisher milden Winter zu kommen, schnell noch einige Einkäufe tätigten, um sich vor dem Frost zu schützen. UBz: Einsam und verlassen stehen die Ausflugsdampfer der DSU, von Eisschollen umgeben, im Treptower Hafen. Bei dieser Kälte haben selbst die Lufthungrigen Berliner keine Lust zu einer Spreefahrt.
