For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme. Zentralbild Löwe 24.11.1956 Modernes Hauptpostamt in Rostock eröffnet. Am 22. November 1956 wurde die über 300m2 großen Schalterhalle im neuerbauten Hauptpostamt am Thälmann-Platz in Rostock für den Kundenverkehr freigegeben. In dem Gebäude ist auch die Verwaltung und die Bezirksdirektion des Post- und Fernmeldewesens untergebracht. Die Kunden werden an 13 Schaltern bedient, von denen zwei mit einem Tischmikrofon ausgestattet sind, so daß die Kunden die auf ein Ferngespräch warten , im ganzen Gebäude durch eine Lautsprecheranlage verständigt werden können. Acht Apparate stehen in bequemen schalldichten Zellen für Ferngespräche zur Verfügung. Weitere drei Telefonzellen, mit modernen weißen Sprachapparaten, sind für Ortsgepräche eingerichtet.
