For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Jena, pharmazeutisches Labor Zentralbild Erfurt(Richter) Quasch-Ho. 2.2.1957 Aus der Arbeit des Staatlichen Instituts für Arzneimittelprüfung in Jena Das erste Staatliche Institut für Arzneimittelprüfung Deutschlands wurde am 30.4.1956 in Jena eröffnet. Unter der Leitung des Direktors Dr. Paape überprüfen hier Wissenschaftler und Laboranten in neuzeitlichen Arbeitsräumen alle neuentwickelten Arzneimittel, bevor sie auf den Markt kommen. Auch die Prüfung solcher Mittel, die sich bereits im Handel befinden und die Kontrolle von Rezepturen aus Apotheken, erfolgt in diesem Institut. Darüberhinaus unterliegen alle neuen Arzneimittel einer entsprechenden Begutachtung durch das Ministerium für Gesundheitswesen und durch den Zentralen Gutachterausschuss. Somit ist die Gewähr gegeben, dass nur einwandfreie Arzneimittel und Verbandstoffe an die Bevölkerung verabreicht werden. UBz: Die Laborantin Hundertmark bei einer Analyse von Chemikalien.
